NESMOUR – The Hubdovan Ministry of Energy Production and Consumption (MEPC) has announced a partnership with private energy company Nelja Energia to build offshore wind turbines off the west coast of Aväthäe. This comes as support for more eco-friendly forms of energy production has skyrocketed which led to the government setting a pollution cap on the most polluting companies such as Riverforce Industries – the largest coal and steel producer out of Nicoshire. Nelja Energia is a solar panel and wind turbine manufacturer out of Aväthäe that has been extremely vocal about switching from fossil fuels to renewable, climate-friendly alternatives. Although this move by the MEPC seems to be in good faith, some climate protestors still gathered outside Parliament Hall to fight against that bill, saying:
“Building these wind turbines, even though an honourable action we can all commend, would severely disrupt the local marine wildlife by causing sediments and excess debris to be stirred up and cause pollution in the water and increase seafloor deterioration.”
The bill is planned to be signed by Prime Minister Heikkinen and construction will begin on the 1st of September despite these concerns.
